Counting Blessings walks a spiritual path. Using garments as metaphor, Ellen Greene embellishes clothing considered obsolete with thread, paint and wax. Children's shifts, collars and day/evening gloves are mostly no longer worn with sartorial or practical intent. Greene has resuscitated the idea of their original purpose, covering and protecting our heart and hands. As each piece of clothing is decorated, they take on an anthropomorphic quality; you can feel the imaginary and spiritual body inhabiting the garment.
