The intertwined processes of time and memory layering and collaging
- analogous to the process by which we ourselves are formed.

Initial inspiration - rediscovery of 30-plus year old letters.

Intrigued with how they looked - water stains and tears.

Simplify vocabulary - somewhat minimal in appearance.

Limiting was a good way to start.

As I worked, the nature of the materials, the surprising ferocity of
my response to the letters pushed me to use style itself as vocabulary.

Love the process of painting the addition of wax with tools other than
brushes opened the whole process up.

Found a way in to abstraction.

These works feel very necessary to me.
