Artificial landscapes move stealthily throughout my new work. In playing with domestic throwaways, fled treasures, broken scraps and bits, the borders seem to get fuzzy -- often hidden, murky, illusory. Ideas of rural expanses breed as ambiguities rise and fall throughout the work. I am continually pushing and pulling, filling and editing, revealing and concealing through my work.
My focus through this new work is based on a specific area in SW Wisconsin. This Driftless Region is a place that I have spent the last five years traveling to and from while renovating a hundred year old structure. I hold this landscape very dear and have studied it sincerely by automobile, foot and bicycle.
Ideas of space, time, land, dioramas, farms and peek-inside panoramic sugared eggs dance in my head daily.
