This septuagenarian artist explores our social, cultural, and historical
states through his unique style of painting. Woolfıs work conveys a
narrative or imagined scene, often using a flat perspective allowing many
layers of an idea to be expressed at once. The detail in his work is
impressive. He uses what I call the "show every blade of grass technique"
which makes his work all the more amazing, and fits within the grand folk
tradition of memory painting. Not surprisingly, some of his larger works
take more than a year to complete.
