NOW! / Brian Dettmer Pre-Sale
I am pleased to announce that I am able to offer work from Brian Dettmer's upcoming show in NYC to my collectors, before the work is offered for sale to the general public. It is being offered on a first come first served basis. If you want to purchase it now... it can be yours. It has to stay in the show through October 15th. And then a little time after that for packing and shipping. Brian's career is going great guns at the moment, and I highly recommend getting a single book piece from this body of work based on the visuals in the links below. Please contact me if you have interest and please feel free to email with any questions.

Thursday, September 8th, 6 - 9 PM / Aron Packer Projects at Mars Gallery POP UP!
Krista Hoefle / quilts / prints
Nancy Mladenoff / flashe on paper
Lorraine Peltz / photographs and paintings
Jennifer Yorke / collage on paper
Barbie Gazdik and Peter Mars have graciously invited APP to curate a show for their fall season opener! As you hopefully know by now we are very active and nomadic. Mars Gallery is most well known for it's love of Pop Art and we wanted to tip our hat to that. Jennifer Yorke, Lorraine Peltz, Nancy Mladenoff, and Krista Hoefle all have direct and indirect Pop Art influences. It's in the art world's blood and we don't always acknowledge it. At the same time this is a serious show, but with many levels of humor, which makes for a great balance. Collage, fiber, paint, print, and photography are employed here, and at APP we always enjoy working with contrasting materials. So save the date and come out the night BEFORE the Friday openings and hang with us. Instead of running around to see too many things too fast!

Underwater Vines / Rennie Sparks / paintings and collections
Presented by Aron Packer Projects
Show Location / 2416 W. North Ave (at Western), Chicago, IL 60647
Tuesday, September, 20, 2016 from 6 - 9 PM.
Rennie Sparks' odd, sometimes dark and offbeat vision for her Handsome Family lyrics hold true for her paintings. Rennie focuses on images of water, seaweed, octopuses, frogs, snakes— the squirmy, dark and lovely currents beneath what we can easily see. Rennie often makes her own frames (decorated with varnished black beans). At this show she will also exhibit paintings on circular drumheads as well as fully-functional Telecaster guitars which were built by Brett then painted by Rennie. Sparks will also show some of her dog food cans collected around the world, and a collection of found cat whiskers that has taken decades to amass! She and her husband Brett will play a few 'unplugged' songs to begin the night so get there on time. Aron Packer Projects is excited to share Rennie Sparks visions of invisibility with the larger world.
(About) The Handsome Family is a songwriting team consisting of husband and wife Brett and Rennie Sparks. The band formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1993 and are currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They are perhaps best known for their song "Far from Any Road" from the album Singing Bones, which was chosen by T Bone Burnett as the main title theme for the first season of HBO's 2014 crime drama True Detective.
