Donald Cameron explores in paint the unexpected beauty of the prevalent
graphic violence found in mass media. The electronic informative hum of news
conglomerates is the culprit and we are the victims. The work in this show
is not void of guile, commenting on the here and now and the current trends
of our society. Cameron has a viewpoint that has internalized the
contemporary forms of entertainment as source material. The painting created
is aestheticized with increasing profusion and tricky subtlety.
Historically painting has portrayed violence for a variety of means. It
works to the same here in Cameron's work, but in a more familiar
contemporary frame.
