A sublime approach is taken into the excavation of Blazina's family history
and in turn, our collective unconscious. Investigating her personal family
narrative, it's unclear what and how one remembers something. Blazina
manifests this idea through the silkscreening of vintage snapshots and her
own photography onto planes of frosted glass. This makes for a dreamy
idealization of her life, and her parents and grandparents lives. Images of
New York, the family home, and the natural landscape, add to the nostalgia
for a simpler time. This is the primary focus of the exhibition. Also
included is Longing, a wall installation expanding imagery exponentially,
with over fifteen hundred cast plaster frames with black and white
silkscreens repesenting specific moments in her family's existence.
